ID WORLD Rio de Janeiro 2011, the inaugural Americas Summit on security, mobility and traceability, Wise Media’s first event in South America, took place over two days in June.

First global event on ICT driven innovation in South America

With a strong focus on the deployment of automatic identification technologies in emerging countries and the status of secure ID schemes in the era of global mobility, leading players in security, automatic identification, wireless and mobility convened in Rio de Janeiro for the first time to communicate, share and exhibit their knowledge, experience and innovations. ID WORLD Rio de Janeiro was positioned to offer maximum exposure to a highly targeted audience to help further shape the future of citizen ID, security and tracking infrastructures in the South American region.

A focused conference program of plenary sessions, breakout seminars and workshops, as well as exclusive networking initiatives and a technology village, ensured that delegates and exhibitors received maximum value from their participation.

Wise Media’s fourth annual EMEA summit on security, mobility and traceability, Wise Media’s inaugural Americas summit on security, mobility and traceability welcomed an outstanding line up of senior government dignitaries, end-users and ICT industry leaders from throughout Latin America and further afield at ID WORLD Rio de Janeiro on June 21 and 22.

As the first global event on ICT-driven innovation in Latin America, ID WORLD Rio de Janeiro created the impetus for stimulating debate and vision exchange and engaged top-level representatives from governments throughout the region – from the Caribbean to Argentina. The event furthermore facilitated direct interaction between a select community of high-profile decision makers in order to jointly shape the future of security, tracking infrastructures and citizen ID in the Latin American region.

Over the two days, influential leaders from both the public and private sectors took part in discussions focusing on ICT-driven innovation and the deployment of automatic identification technologies in Latin America and on the status of secure ID schemes in the era of global mobility. Government representatives from around the region included Aldenor De Souza e Silva, DG from the Ministry of Justice, Brazil; Lafayette Luiz Doogal de Andrada, Secretary of the Social Defense Secretariat, Brazil; Marcio Barbosa Moreira, Secretary of Interior from the Government of Argentina; Minister Marco Núñez-Melgar Maguiña from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Peru; Renato Da Silveira Martini, Director - National Institute of Information Technology, Brazil; Major Leandro Pavani Agostini Chief of Police, Sao Paulo, Brazil; Pedro Janices, Chief of the Cabinet Office, National Director - National Office of Information Technologies, Argentina; Marisol Castro Dobles, Director General, Civil Registry of Costa Rica and Ronald Covil, Director General, Office of National Identification, Haiti, as well as senior government officials from Guatamala, Panama, Uruguay and Ecuador.
